TED CRUZ FOR PRESIDENT

Today marked the day when the Republican Party had it’s first announced candidate for President of the United States for 2016.

Senator Cruz chose Liberty University in Virginia as the site for his speech. This is also the 5th anniversary of the passage of the ACA. His choosing today to announce his candidacy was not a coincidence! It was a well orchestrated announcement. First, it occurred at the site of the largest Christian University, which had a large and friendly student attendance. Secondly, the ACA is the law that Senator Cruz has vowed to end.

Don’t underestimate Senator Cruz. He is quite capable of winning his party’s nomination, by galvanizing and becoming the favorite of the Tea Party and by seeking the support of the Christian evangelical community.

If you want a determined firebrand of the conservative persuasion you will not find a more focused and resolute candidate. Senator Cruz is the king of government by hostage taking. His leadership helped close down the government. He is unapologetic about the fact that he helped shut down the government and therein that type of political action says a lot about why he will be a force to be reckon with. He is a true believer in his causes. Unflinching in his my way or the highway approach to governance. But his unwillingness to compromise will be an asset when it comes to gaining support for his candidacy.

For the right wing of the Republican Party they are determined to choose a true conservative this election cycle. Senator Cruz fits the job description of who they are looking for as a candidate. He is against immigration reform and he definitely wants to do away with what the right wing call Obamacare. His religious beliefs will be popular with the party faithful. Senator Cruz is undoubtedly going to give right wing Republicans a lot of red meat to enjoy during the coming campaign.

Being the first to announce his candidacy should give him an advantage going forward. Cruz comes from a state, Texas, that is delegate rich. Governor Perry should not be a threat to Cruz being able to get a sizable chunk of delegates from Texas. Senator Cruz should also do very well throughout the states of the former Confederacy.

Senator Cruz should also do well in the Rocky Mountain states as well hold his own in the Midwestern states. As usual the delegate rich states will be very important in determining who wins the nomination.

Jeb Bush should do well in the eastern states. If Cruz can hold his own in states like New York and Pennsylvania it will be very interesting. Illinois is another delegate rich state that will see Governor Scott Walker potentially do well seeing that he is from a neighboring state.

Senator Cruz, the former Solicitor General of Texas and the junior Senator from Texas is a graduate from Harvard, who has successfully argued cases before the United States Supreme Court. For those who would dismiss his candidacy on the left, they do so at their own peril for Cruz is a man to be reckoned with.

The race for the Presidency is on, and it will be very, very interesting.
