As the campaign winds down, the American people now have their candidates, the Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton versus Donald J. Trump. Republicans, if they are to be believed, claim that the former secretary has accomplished nothing in her storied career. This essay will attempt to set the record straight. What are some of Hillary Clinton’s accomplishments?
Before we start at the beginning of her lengthy resume, let us remind ourselves of the huge job that being Secretary of State is. From 1789 on being the Secretary of State means that you are the chief foreign policy adviser to the President of the United States. It was the first executive office established. Today, the Secretary oversees at Foggy Bottom, over 5000 employees who represent the United States throughout the world. We have relations with at least 180 countries. Secretary Clinton was the most traveled Secretary of State in our history. In a dangerous world the secretary was known as a strong and experienced leader who represented the United States.
Being Secretary of State is nothing to sneeze at, it is a position of power and influence. To claim that any Secretary of State accomplishes nothing just shows how partisan we are in our time in history.
Her early years were indicative of her future brilliance. The following is from an article in DailyKos:
She was the first ever student at Wellesley College to be the commencement speaker.
Before she saw the light she was the President of the Wellesley College young Republicans.

She was a two-term senator! She served on 5 senate committees, among them were the Budget, Armed Services, Environment and Public Works committee, and the Health, Education,Labor and Pension committee.
Secretary of State.
And on the seventh day she rested. Perhaps Republicans believe that Public Service is not an honorable job. Hillary Clinton has had a long and illustrious career full of accomplishment. She broke many a glass ceiling which for younger women might not mean as much because the job of breaking these barriers has been accomplished. She has one more glass ceiling to break and that is President of the United States.
