As each day brings more revelations about Russia’s involvement in our election, the likelihood that President Trump will do something extreme increases. And as each day goes by we find President Trump desperately trying to change the emphasis of the news from it being all about Russia to some other issue. At first, he attempted to change the media’s focus by claiming that former President Barack Obama had tapped his telephones in Trump Towers and he even went so far as to claim the the British Secret Service had cooperated in this effort and had eavesdropped into President Trump’s phone conversations. Both political parties and the FBI have seen through these claims and have seen how specious and defamatory they are.

Our greatest danger could result from Number 45’s desperation and his need to change the national conversation from his alleged involvement with the Russians since the Republican Primaries. Will Trump create his own Reichstag fire to accomplish two goals? : One is to change the nations focus and Two to enable his administration to declare Martial Law and begin to establish his own authoritarian regime as a result?

You are probably thinking that this idea is too far fetched. But then there is nothing that makes sense about President Trump to begin with. When you consider that there are according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, 917 hate groups, of which 663 are Patriot anti-government groups with 165 militias. Believe or not we have 130 KKK groups and that Pennsylvania has the 5th most. Now add to these facts that we now have Steve Bannon as the key political adviser to President Trump than the idea of having a self created event is not so far fetched after all.

For Hitler it was not enough to win and to win by a constitutional and proper way. It was in 1933, that Hitler and the Nazi’s were able to assume absolute power. This was done, by an intentional act of arson which enabled Hitler to complete his Nazification  of Germany. We will probably never really know who started the fire in the seat of government in Germany, the Reichstag. General Halder, the Chief of Staff for the German General staff, testified at Nuremberg, that Herman Goering had boasted of his deed. A Van der Lubbe was used as Hitler’s stooge to be blamed, but for the intensity of the fire, one person could not have done the deed.

As a result of the fire, the Nazis passed the very next day, February 28, a bill that amounted to declaring martial law. The decree, suspended seven sections of their constitution, and was allegedly for the protection of the people of Germany. It stated that, ” Restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press; on the right to assembly and association; and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications; and warrants for house searchers, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property; are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.

By this order, Hitler was able to stop any of his opponents and arrest them, as a threat to the state.

What is to stop Trump and his minions from arranging a terrorist attack in the United States, and thereby be able to declare a state of emergency, suspending the laws that protect Americans under the lie of seeking to protect Americans from terrorists?

America is full of law abiding citizens who feel that they can protest and resist in the best American traditions. Jefferson once said that dissent was the sincerest form of patriotism. How would we react to an official act of tyranny where our laws would be suspended under the guise of terrorism? Hopefully this idea remains a fantasy, and President Trump will respect our laws. So far he has not shown any respect for judges or the media. The future holds promise and it holds a good degree of uncertainty for all Americans until the nightmare of Trump ends. What will he be willing to do to remain in power?
